About
Robin is a driven scientist and professional speaker in the field of technology and ethics. She is also the first person in the Netherlands to have generated case law on algorithms and discrimination. As a pioneer in the Netherlands in the field of socially responsible AI application, she is committed to promoting awareness of its ethical applications. With an academic background in computer science, she uses her experience to advise various organizations on the responsible use of algorithms. In November 2023, she gave a TEDx talk on this topic.

What you will learn
During her presentation, Robin reflects back to 2020, the year in which she personally experienced how decisions made by an algorithm can have a negative impact on people's daily lives. She shares her vision on how AI can be used in a socially responsible manner and discusses how as a society, we can work towards a more just technological future. Robin identifies as an intersectional feminist and therefore also focuses on the opportunities and possibilities available to women in tech, raising awareness about how the underrepresentation of women in the tech industry can result in algorithms making harmful decisions.
