Leticia Gonzalez

This inspirational woman, who, might we add, is flying all the way from Brazil especially for The Self-Made Summit, is co-founder and CEO of 109 World (an organization that coordinates retreats which include volunteer work. Talk about a win-win.). She is also a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council and started her career working for the Clinton Foundation. We are impressed. To say the least. With 109 World, Leticia approaches entrepreneurship with her whole heart and at The Self-Made Summit she will teach you how you, too, can do exactly the same.

Occupation
Entrepreneur, Co-Founder & CEO 109 World, Member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council

Speaking at The Self-Made Summit about
the way in which work connects and can contribute both fulfillment and happiness. For most people, working life is an inevitable part of our existence. It’s then sad to hear that only 66% of people actually find satisfaction in their current job. According to Leticia Gonzalez, a lot of responsibility then comes down to the workfloor when we’re talking about happiness and satisfaction.

She notes: “Many people are currently looking outside the boundaries of their work to find a solution, in the form of gurus, medicine, yoga and healers. That can be a great first step, but I think that as well as this, there should be a paragraph in every company’s manifesto that concerns the happiness and satisfaction of its employees.”

According to Leticia, the promise of satisfaction and happiness is also partly in the hands of our leaders, the big companies in the world and (closer to ‘home’:) key management personnel.

Leticia: “We live in a time in which people are no longer willing to put their emotional needs, personal interests and life goals on hold between 9 and 5. Especially when they have to commit to a job in which they feel like they are only working for someone else and in which they may even be exploited. It is up to everyone, as individuals, to find a job that makes them feel good, which helps them grow and also allows them to pursue a worthwhile goal. But it is also up to today’s leaders to create as many jobs like this as possible.”

Where to begin? Leticia explains this to you within the frame of her four key practices!

We know her from
Leticia is co-founder and Executive Director of 109 World, a non-profit organization that coordinates retreats which include volunteer work. The idea behind this? “To empower everyone, everywhere, to become a humanitarian.”

It’s no coincidence that Leticia is committed to creating a better world and wants to encourage people to stimulate happiness and fulfillment in one another. This inspirational woman grew up in Brazil: a country known for its diversity and contrasts.

Throughout her childhood, Leticia was confronted with immense differences in wealth and happiness. Upon realizing that this wrongful distribution was a global issue, she decided to devote her life to plugging the holes.

After finishing high school in São Paulo, Leticia studied at the International Business School in London where she obtained a Master’s degree in Social Entrepreneurship.

In her first job, she was responsible for developing and managing official political trade delegations for the Danish Embassy in Brazil. Not the worst for a first job! Her next step? Atlantic Regional Director and later Head of Public Affairs for the Hult Prize Foundation. Within these roles Leticia contributed her efforts to the organization for a period of more than three years and helped increase visibility for the world’s largest social entrepreneurship competition for students. A competition that was conducted in collaboration with President Bill Clinton.

In 2015, Leticia launched 109 World and in 2017 officially joined the Forbes Nonprofit Council.
